Why?

Two men sit by a typewriter under a lamp, one in black, one in white, with a plant in the background. Text reads: "The world is not America and England."

For the sake of my hometown, Jeddah, its people, my community and friends.

For the streets that are filled with the sense of unknown surprises and war like driving.

I've tried to detach from fast hitting forms of media, even trained chatgpt to find me the best articles to the subjects I ask for, but never will I find an article that might discuss the feeling you get when you drive around the streets of Jeddah and wonder, why do people hang around Al-Malik road till 5AM, or why as I'm writing this on the 28th of Feb 2026, you find videos of crowds and crowds of people videoing a guy selling street food while singing in Al-Balad.

Far away from the noises of Twitter (yes Twitter, Elon you haven't changed our mind with your purchse), from all the complains and semi desperate need of attention. Far away from Snapchat and that guy that will remain unnamed, but you'll find him in every event.

The thought came to create the underground voice for the people of this city, that can't find something to do or a place to hang in, because all the cafes are filled, each is looking for a prey to hunt, each prey in all her glamorous appearance for the cafe's fashion week.

Though it may sound like a cliché, but the aim is to have this place be the quite underground of the city, where you'll find the next subject you can talk to your friends about, while going to check out the new place in AbdulMaqsud Khojah, or while you light your IQOS in the Diwaniyah, or with the girls as you get your 22nd cup of matcha of the week, or after you played your first 7-9 football match in weeks in Safa (North side of Jeddah tends to be more expense to chip in for the match, and it's the end of the month...).
